I have learned about the northwest native americans and about explorers like Lewis and Clark in the past few chapters.
So far I have learned about ice dams in the scablands, volcanos like mt. st. helens, douglas fir trees, the rainshadow effect, shamans, and the impotance of cedar to the native americans in Washington. In chapter one, the things that i’ll remember most are the landscape of the scablands and the distruction that mt. st. helens caused. In chapter two, the thing i’ll remember most is that the douglas fir tree is found in all the regions of Washington. In chapter three, the thing i’ll remember most is stripping the bark off of the cedar tree. These things are important to our state’s history because the things in chapter one changed the landscape, the thing in chapter two is found all over Washington state, and the thing in chapter three was very important to the native americans in Washington.
I think I could have done better because it’s kind of hard to read the summarys. I do like the picture at the end Epiloge. And I did the titles and other stuff in caligraphy pen. It is a cool book though. It was fun making it. I learned that Muhammad was a very important part of Islam and he lived a hard life, but a good life. I defenetly learn more from these projects because you write it over and over, but with a test it’s one and done. I’ll remember the book, but not a test I took. Although, it is a pain to do work. Oh well…
In my jouney to the Arabian Penninsula in 600 c.e. I learned many things. My first stop was the desert. Tree men dressed in loose gowns and cotton headdresses, gave me a camel and gown like theirs’. Pretty soon I was very hot. Sweat dripped on my face. I had no choice but to put on the mens’ gown. It felt strange and kind of free, but I felt imediatly relieved. Let me tell you: never go to the 120F desert wearing Washington State clothes. Before I had the chance to get across a large sand dune I was thirsty. Note to self: Always bring lots of water. And you know what I found? Over the sand dune was an oasis. It was lush and beautiful.
I jumped off my camel and ran to the water. I was almost there, when I sank down into the water. Note to self (and you if you ever go there): Always bring big rubber boots to an oasis, because they are filled with water. I stepped up, out of the water, climbed onto dry land, and cupped my hands in the water. It was clear and clean. No wonder these people used this water for springs and waterholes. Looking around I saw that there was lots of plants. My camel was feeding on a shrub. Note to you: If your camel looks sluggish, bring it to an oasis where it can feed on shrubs and drink lots of water. I loved the oasis, but I hoped back on my camel-to his displesure-and we rode all the way to the coastal plain. It was raining.
The cool rain drops felt good on my dry face. I walked to a rocky cliff and found an ocean. Note to you: Bring a camera for the magnificent view. I looked a little too far over the edge and fell in! Note to you: Don’t stand too close to the edge of a cliff. Lucky for me the water felt nice, but not so lucky, I couldn’t get back on the cliff. It was too high up. Lucky again… heck, miraculesly, a local farmer-which there are alot of- heard me yell and ran to pull me out. Note to you: Be nice to farmers, they might save your life. We talked in his native tongue and then he invited me to his farm. He had grain, all kinds of fruits, and lots of vegitables. Eventually we seperated and I headed toward the hills on my camel.
Note to you: Never think that mountains are hills. Once I got up close, I relized I was in the mountains. Not in front of them, in them. But, since I was there I dicided to climb the mountain (big mistake). I got about 100 feet up, and felt the wind. I shivered on my angry camel. Note to you: Always bring spare clothes in case your others some how get wet. Now, I know what you’re thinking. What about the clothes you started with? I’m wearing them. The wind is cold. It started raining too. Note to you: Bring a rain coat as well as the rain boots I mentioned earlier. I know I should have stopped, but I had this strange earge to keep going. And, sure enough, at the top I found the portal to the time we’re in now. Note to you: If you’re going to put a prtal some where, don’t put it at the top of a mountain.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED AGAIN!!! AND IN THE SAME MONTH TOO!!!! I SWEAR IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN I’M GONNA BLOW!!!! IF WHOEVER DID THIS SEES THIS I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW:
DO YOU WANT FREEDOM!?!?!!! THIS IS NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Mommy,
This trimester I learned alot. In SS I learned all about the medival times. In math we learned about graphs and solving all sorts of problems. In Science we learned about rocks and the Grand Canyon. In LA we learned how to write a good paragraph, analize what we read and speach latin. I kinda need to work on spelling and getting my homework done. In order to do this I need to work harder and stay after school? Refer to my LA letter.

I can’t really think of any rules I don’t aprove of because at school we have very resonable rules. However, I don’t agree with rules in the mideval ages. They payed taxes on the most rediculous things. Also, the power was not very well distributed as far as who got to be a monarch and who didn’t. The monarchs made rules that made them happy, not rules that are best for the town.
This week I personaly learned how lucky we are to live in such a nice country in a nice house with a nice family. The lesson on current events really helped me to see all the things happening around the world and that standing out in the rain isn’t all that bad compared to losing a loved one.
We also took a test this week. I don’t know how I did but I hope I did well. As far as unit 4 goes, I liked learning about daily life in the mideval times. It was cool to know what they worried about, where they lived and what they did for fun.
Wow. I think we all know how inconvenient the bomb scare was. I would just like to say that whoever did better feel really guilty right now. Thousands of people could have died because some kid wrote a little joke on a paper. Not to mention the fact that they commited a CRIME. No question about it, if they find the kid he/she WILL go to juvy. I just hope it dosn’t happen again.
I’m a little late but here’s what I learned in unit 3:
Churches are very important to the people in the middle ages. To sin is to die, pretty much.
